After the brutally hot summer we just had, you might be itching for ways to use your oven again. And because it's now fall, you might be craving more seasonal flavors. These sweet potato chips are simple to make and can be seasoned however you like. Ours have cayenne pepper and sea salt, but we think cinnamon and sugar would be delicious too.
To make these chips you will need:
2 large sweet potatoes
2 tablespoons olive oil
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Preheat oven to 300°. Wash sweet potatoes well. Using a mandolin or very sharp knife, slice sweet potatoes about 1/8-inch thick. Toss with olive oil, salt and cayenne if using. Place sweet potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 22-25 minutes, flipping chips over halfway through. Chips will continue to crisp up after you take them out of the oven. Serve immediately.
