David Nelson

David Nelson is a fourth-generation Idahoan who grew up on a Genesee wheat farm.
A graduate of the University of Idaho, Nelson left Idaho to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry writing software that helps companies manage their energy more efficiently.
He returned to Idaho 20 years ago with a flourishing business he started with his boss when the two left Chevron to work together. Since then, David’s company grew to employ more than 50 people working in Idaho, Texas and Argentina.
David was served in the Idaho State Senate from 2018 to 2022 served on the Transportation, Agriculture Affairs and Education committees.
David has been involved in Rotary for the last 15 years including running the regional high school youth exchange program. “I have been enriched by helping our kids get a better understanding of
the greater world and see the kids from other countries aren’t that different from themselves,” David said. During this work David has impacted the lives of more than 300 students around the world.
David lives in Moscow with his wife Nancy Nelson. They have two daughters who graduated from Moscow High School. His favorite recreation is rafting Idaho’s rivers.
