Let's Toast: Hot Cider

Apples1

Living in the Northwest we have access to some amazing local apples. The cider sold here at the Co-op comes to us from Wilson Banner Ranch in  Clarkston, WA about 30 miles away. While this cider is amazing on its own, just fresh pressed apples, simmering it with spices and opting to add a splash (or two) of your favorite whiskey, makes toasting to the season much for festive. It also makes your house smell amazing!

You'll need: 1 gallon of Wilson Banner Ranch apple cider (or whatever is available to you) 16 whole cloves 2 cinnamon sticks 2 navel oranges Places all ingredients in a large pot and simmer for 20-30 minutes. Pour into mugs with a splash of whiskey.

Slice pears into 1/4 inch slices. Spread fig spread across entire pear slice.  Top with a shaving of Pecorino cheese. The sweetness of the pears and figs pairs really nicely with the saltiness and nuttiness of the sheep's milk cheese.
